FAQ
How much does DELTARUNE cost?
DELTARUNE costs $24.99 in North America. The price in other regions is roughly equivalent to this.
How much will future chapters cost?
Nothing! They'll be made available as free updates once they're ready to release.
What platforms is DELTARUNE available on?
The full game is available on PC, Mac, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. The demo is available on PC, Mac, Switch, and PS4. (The Switch and PS4 demos are of course playable on Switch 2 and PS5, respectively.)
If I buy DELTARUNE on Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2, do I get the other version as well?
If you’ve already purchased the Nintendo Switch version of DELTARUNE on the Nintendo eShop or My Nintendo Store, you can download the Nintendo Switch 2 version at no additional cost. And likewise, if you’ve already purchased the Nintendo Switch 2 version of DELTARUNE on the Nintendo eShop or My Nintendo Store, you can download the Nintendo Switch version at no additional cost! (Except in Japan, where local laws require us to charge a small fee.)
How about on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5?
DELTARUNE is a Cross-Buy title on PS4 and PS5, which means you get both versions of the game for one price!
Will there be a physical version?
Someday, probably, but not yet.
What's different between the various PC and console versions?
They're almost exactly the same, but check out the April 2 newsletter for more specifics.
What's this about an "older" demo and a "newer" demo on Nintendo Switch?
There are two versions of the DELTARUNE Chapter 1&2 demo on Nintendo Switch. Importantly, the content of the demos is 100% exactly the same. The demo basically just moved from having its own eShop page to instead being a part of the DELTARUNE full version's eShop page.
If you downloaded the demo between Feb. 28, 2019 and May 21, 2025, you have the older demo. It's called "DELTARUNE Chapter 1&2" and the icon looks like this:![]()
(The older demo is no longer available to download for new users, but anyone who downloaded it in the past can redownload it the same way you redownload any other game associated with your Nintendo Account.)
On the other hand, if you downloaded the demo anytime from May 22, 2025 onward, you have the newer demo. It's called "DELTARUNE Chapter 1&2 Demo" and the icon looks like this:![]()
Again, both demos are exactly the same. So there's no need to get the newer one if you already have the older one! But at least now you know the difference. Which is...that there is no difference. (Except for the icon.)
How does save data work between the demo and the full version of the game?
On PC and Mac:
If you have demo save data, it should just work on the full version. You don't have to do anything special.
On Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5:
When you first start up the full version of the game, it will check your console for demo save data. If demo save data exists, a message will show up offering to import your progress from the demo into the full version.
Important: your demo save data needs to be on your console for it to be recognized. And since save data is tied to your user account, you need to be using the same account you used when you played the demo.
Note: The Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 full versions of DELTARUNE can also import save data from the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 full versions, respectively, in case you ever decide to upgrade consoles. You cannot, however, import DELTARUNE save data from Nintendo Switch 2 to Nintendo Switch, or PlayStation 5 to PlayStation 4.
And on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 specifically, as of update 1.02, if you have more than one app's save data on your console (for example, if you have saves from both the older version of the Chapter 1&2 demo as well as the newer version), you will be given a choice of which data to import.
I said no to importing save data, but I changed my mind. How do I make the import message appear again?
The import message only appears if you do not have any save data from the full version on your console. So if you just started the game but changed your mind about wanting to import data, the only way to make the import message appear again is by deleting your full version save data and starting up the game again. Obviously, take great care whenever you attempt to delete any save data, as once it's gone, you typically cannot get it back.
I'm on a different computer or console account from the one I played the demo with. Do I have to replay Chapters 1 and 2 before I can try Chapters 3 or 4?
No. You can play any chapter you like, right from the start. As long as you generally remember what happened story-wise, you'll be fine. (Of course, it's recommended to play the chapters in order the first time you play.)
So is Chapter 5 the rest of the game? This is it!?
There are more chapters planned. However, we've only completed up to Chapter 5 so far, so please be patient.
If I played the demo on PlayStation 4 and then import my save data to the full game on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5, will it automatically unlock trophies that are exclusive to Chapters 1 and 2?
Nope. The only way to unlock trophies you can only get in Chapters 1 and 2 is to play through those chapters in the full game.
How does this game relate to UNDERTALE? Is it a sequel?
Please don't worry too much about that.
Essentially, this is not the world of UNDERTALE.
If you completed UNDERTALE, the ending and world are as you left it.
If everyone was happy there, the people in the UNDERTALE world will still be happy.
So, please don't worry about those characters, and that world. It will remain untouched.
To rephrase that, DELTARUNE's world is a different one.
With different characters, that have lived different lives.
A whole new story will happen...
I don't know what you call this kind of game.
It's just a game you can play after you complete UNDERTALE, if you want to.
That's all.
So there's no connections between the two games?
It's a different world that might even have different rules.
That doesn't mean there will be no connections at all though.
When will more chapters come out?
Chapter 6 is now in development! It is not completed yet, but please check deltarune.com or subscribe to the Newsletter for periodic updates!
Will you add anything else to the DEMO?
Chapters 1 and 2 make up the full demo. We have no plans to add anything else to it.
How many endings are there?
One.
Then doesn't that mean nothing I do matters?
There's something more important than reaching the end.
I found some kind of bug, will you fix it?
There's an e-mail you can send it to. You should probably mention what you were playing on.
I hid the e-mail address somewhere in this world.
See if you can find it.

Oh... I didn't hide it very well.
Can I buy the soundtrack?
Yes! You can buy the full game soundtrack on Steam (new chapters will be added for free as they become available), or you can buy individual chapters/releases at Bandcamp and iTunes.
Other Questions
Will you offer DELTARUNE in any other languages?
I understand there are people in every language who would like to play the game. I will make an announcement if I plan to do a new language.
I would like to use DELTARUNE/UNDERTALE content for a class project, performance, etc.
Please email us with specific details.
You're forming a team? Can I join you in making DELTARUNE?
We are not looking for team members at this time so please don't ask.
Any closing remarks?
Thanks for taking an interest in this game.
I don't believe my game is for every person.
But,
to a certain type of people, attuned a certain type of way,
this game can reach a meaning beyond its appearance,
and find a shape in your heart.
Even if there's just one person that feels that way,
I will keep making this game
to grow by your side.
See you again soon.
UNDERTALE / DELTARUNE Merch and Music Licensing Policies
I permit individual fans to sell the following items at cons, subject to the restrictions listed below:
- One-off art commissions of UT/DR characters (online or offline)
- Prints, charms, buttons, keychains, stickers, etc
- Most handmade items
- UNDERTALE/DELTARUNE zines, fanbooks, doujinshi, etc
Fan merch restrictions:
- You cannot use the UNDERTALE/DELTARUNE logo or put the name UNDERTALE/DELTARUNE on it, as it is trademarked. (Weird, right!?)
- No t-shirts, apparel/clothing*, or machine-made figures or plushes.
- Do not compete with official merch & acknowledge my copyright.
- If necessary, I can halt any unofficial item’s sale.
- If you sell, please have played the game.
- I reserve the right to change these rules.
* Exception: if someone hand-made a few scarves, hats, cosplay, or accessories, it’d probably be OK. But if mass-produced, it could become a problem. When in doubt, if hand-made and few, it’s OK. If mass-produced and machine/factory made, it’s not OK.
If engaging in UNDERTALE/DELTARUNE activities at a con (selling, cosplaying, etc.), try to be respectful and give a good impression. Overall, UNDERTALE/DELTARUNE’s had a positive effect on people who have played it. It’d be nice if it could have a positive effect on the rest of the world, too.
General Merchandise Rules:
- I license my friends at Fangamer to sell official UT/DR merch. Occasionally we'll collaborate with other companies to sell official merchandise as well (e.g. Nendoroids, gacha toys, etc).
- Aside from this, other companies cannot sell UNDERTALE/DELTARUNE merch of ANY kind without permission.
- No crowdfunding campaigns for UT or DR-related projects.
- Do not sell merch via print on demand services or other large stores.
Regarding Music:
- Please don't re-upload the soundtracks anywhere.
- Please don't use sound effects in your own commercial works, or heavily sample pieces of the songs.
- You can sell your cover songs (no remixes/samples) but please license them appropriately through Materia Music.
- You can make your own sheet music for free, or sell sheet music through ArrangeMe.
- Yes, you can perform UNDERTALE/DELTARUNE music at conventions / at a concert / at your school. If you’re a for-profit venture (e.g. an orchestra or something) you'll need to get licensed.
